Ed Debevic’s Character Guide
Ed Debevic’s is a unique American diner that specializes in 50’s and 60’s aesthetic. Servers portray different stereotypes from these eras and are expected to act, speak and dress as their characters when on the job. In an effort to guide new recruits I created characters as guidelines. These characters were used in server manuals, restaurant decor and on the website.

I went through many drafts of the Ed’s crew trying to find the right style. Something that would be appropriate to the aesthetic but also easy to replicate for use across different media.

The characters’ primary use were in the server manual. Servers at Ed Debevic’s are more than just the guys and gals that take your order. These servers are actors, musicians, comedians and above all…entertainers! The server manual and characters are a visual guide to help guide the Ed Debevic servers choose their characters and understand how to interact with guests.
